About the Bluu Certified Course Designer Program

Knowing your subject and teaching it well are two different skills. The Bluu Certified Course Designer Program is an 8-week, cohort-based certification that gives you the second skill. Grounded in learning science and proven instructional design methods—backward design, measurable outcome alignment, and Universal Design for Learning—it teaches you to design online courses that don't just deliver information, but build real capability in the people who take them. Along the way, you'll also learn to integrate AI into your design process ethically and intentionally, as a modern tool under your direction. You'll apply every concept directly to a course of your own, week by week, with live sessions, hands-on practice, and personalized feedback. Meet Your Instructor & Learning Architect

Dr. JerMara Davis Welch is an instructional designer, educator, and curriculum specialist with more than 20 years of experience across K–12, higher education, and professional learning. She holds a Ph.D. in Teaching and Teacher Education, is a Quality Matters Certified Peer Reviewer, and has led course design and faculty development at the university level—including service as an Assistant Dean and Director of Teacher Education. She built the Bluu Certified Course Designer Program around a conviction earned over two decades in the field: that subject-matter expertise and the ability to teach it are two different skills. You've mastered the first; this program teaches you the second. Through it, she brings the same evidence-based methods used in accredited higher education to experts, creators, and trainers designing courses of their own, so they can design courses that build real capability—courses that change what learners can do.
